Rett syndrome is a rare disease that alters the development of the central nervous system. It manifests itself by a rapid regression of the acquired skills after 6 to 24 months of normal development. A team of researchers from IAB and IGMBC in Strasbourg has identified Rett syndrome as a "chromatin" disease of epigenetic origin and deciphered the etiology of the syndrome. This work was published in the prestigious journal Science.

A research consortium involving teams from the Grenoble Alpes University Hospital, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and coordinated by the environmental epidemiology team of Inserm, CNRS and the Grenoble Alpes University Institute for the Advancement of Biosciences in Grenoble has just published in Environment International an epidemiological study investigating the relationship between prenatal exposure to a mixture of phenols, parabens and phthalates and the child's behavior at age 2.

The survival of parasites responsible for toxoplasmosis depends on the control of lipid resources drawn from their host. The parasite sets up a "metabolic balance" to manage the acquisition of lipids, their consumption and storage, avoiding the death of the parasite by overconsumption and "obesity" (i.e. lipotoxicity). This is what Dr. Cyrille BOTTÉ's team has just shown in a study published in the journal Nature Communications. This discovery represents a major advance in the understanding of the host-parasite relationship and thus in the fight against these human pathogens.

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Institute for the Advanced Biosciences (IAB, Inserm / CNRS / Grenoble Alpes University research center) - have signed a memorandum of understanding, formalizing a fifteen-year collaboration between the two institutes. This collaboration strengthens Grenoble as a European research center in life sciences.
